TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub Zero Dimension Review: Is the $34,000+ Zero-Gravity Tub Worth It?
Updated: 2 days ago
The TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub with Zero Dimension is a freestanding 87-inch soaking tub built around one idea: a reclined, near-weightless posture. TOTO lists it at $34,032, and two retailers list it at $38,763, so this is a decision about design and daily ritual, not specs alone. This review covers what the tub includes, what it takes to install, what it costs across retailers, and who it suits.
The TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub Zero Dimension is the right choice for buyers designing a master bath around one standout soaking experience: a reclined, near-weightless posture, HydroHands massage jets, and a cascading neck bath in an 87-inch freestanding tub. TOTO lists it at $34,032, and two retailers list it at $38,763. Skip it if you want a silent, simple bath. The tub includes an air blower, weighs about 1,326 lbs loaded, needs a GFCI-protected circuit, and is a special order with a 6 to 10 week lead time at Ferguson.
How We Evaluated the TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub
TOTO USA and Ferguson Home supply most of the verifiable specifications; the price varies by retailer, and TOTO's claims about the posture's effects are TOTO's own.
We evaluated the tub across ten criteria: Zero Dimension body positioning, HydroHands and air-system design, material and finish, dimensions and loaded weight, electrical and installation requirements, price across retailers, lead time and special-order terms, warranty, what is and isn't included, and fit for different buyers. Research method: desk review of TOTO USA's product page, TOTO's specification sheet and installation guide, and the Ferguson Home and Perigold listings. We do not test products hands-on. TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub Zero Dimension: The Zero-Gravity Soaking Tub
The TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub Zero Dimension is a freestanding 87-inch tub that cradles the body in a reclined, near-weightless posture, with HydroHands water jets, an air-bubble system, and a cascading neck bath.
Most luxury tubs are designed to look sculptural from the outside. This one is shaped from the inside, around the body. TOTO describes the Flotation Tub as the world's first zero-gravity bathtub, and its shape is built to simulate a near gravity-less floating position. The finish is Galalato, a solid-surface material TOTO says is engineered to resist stains and retain heat, and the one-piece look is helped by a toe-touch drain and a capacitive keypad.
At 86-5/8 inches long and 77.5 gallons, it is a large object: a single-bather tub that needs a bathroom designed around it. Ferguson's listing includes the heater and lighting. The drain assembly and faucet are sold separately.
What we love:
A purpose-shaped tub, designed around a reclined posture rather than a standard soak
An adjustable headrest with a cascading water shoulder warmer
Mood LED lighting and a clean one-piece look with the toe-touch drain
Solid-surface Galalato material that TOTO says resists stains and retains heat
A 3-year limited warranty and an included heater
The honest trade-off: At $34,032 list, and $38,763 where retailers publish a price, it is the most expensive bath fixture most buyers will ever consider. It is not silent: the tub includes a 0.5 hp air blower, and we could not find a published decibel rating, so ask a showroom to demonstrate it. The loaded weight is about 1,326 lbs, it needs a GFCI-protected 120V circuit, and the drain and faucet are extra. TOTO's claims about the posture's effect on the brain are TOTO's own, and we did not find independent testing in our desk review.
How Zero Dimension Works in the TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub
Zero Dimension is TOTO's name for a specific reclined bathing posture, with the body curved and the feet elevated, designed to imitate the way astronauts sleep in zero gravity.
TOTO says it researched body positioning and neurological relaxation for more than a decade before developing the tub. The result is a cradle-like shape that holds the buttocks lower than the slightly bent legs, which TOTO says creates the experience of total weightlessness. On its US site, TOTO states that the posture puts the bather in a meditative, low-frequency brain-wave state similar to deep relaxation.
That last point is TOTO's claim, and we did not find independent testing of it. What you can say with confidence is the design: a supported, reclined posture with the legs slightly bent, built to take pressure off the joints during a long soak. If that posture appeals to you, a showroom visit will tell you more than any specification can.
HydroHands, Air Jets, and the Neck Bath
The tub combines HydroHands massaging water jets with an air-bubble system and a cascading neck bath, so it is a jetted tub with a blower, not a silent soak.
TOTO lists HydroHands as massaging water jets. Ferguson's listing adds that air-jet bubble streams envelop the body, and TOTO's specification includes a 0.5 hp blower. If you want a completely silent bath, that blower is worth asking about before you order.
The adjustable headrest releases a cascade of warm water over the shoulders, and the mood LED lighting is listed as chromatherapy on Ferguson's page. Controls are a capacitive keypad.
What It Takes to Install the TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub
Plan the structure, the circuit, and the delivery before you order, because the tub is heavy, electrical, and a special order.
Structure: TOTO's installation guide counts about 1,326 lbs for the tub with a full 77.5 gallons of water and a bather, and includes a section on building a base for the tub. Have your builder or architect review it.
Power: Ferguson lists 120V, 8.8 A, and 1,000 W. TOTO's guide requires a ground-fault circuit-interrupter (GFCI) protected circuit with grounding.
Plumbing: The drain assembly and faucet are not included, so budget and spec both.
Lead time: Ferguson lists the tub as a special order that leaves the warehouse in 6 to 10 weeks, with free shipping. Ask the retailer what delivery includes before you order.
Terms: One retailer lists the tub as special order, non-cancelable and non-returnable. Confirm return terms before you commit.

TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub vs. Float Pod vs. Deep Soaking Tub
The Flotation Tub is an open bath that sits in your bathroom; a float pod is an enclosed chamber; a deep soaking tub is the simpler, far cheaper choice.
Float pods are enclosed chambers built for floating in a heavily salted solution. The Flotation Tub is the opposite format: an open, freestanding bath filled with regular water, designed to look at home in a master suite. It is a reclined soak, not sensory deprivation. A good deep soaking tub costs a fraction of the price and has none of the structural or electrical requirements. If your goal is a comfortable long soak, that is the practical alternative. If you want this specific posture and design, nothing else on the market is built quite like it.

Vapour & Stone Verdict
Choose the TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub Zero Dimension if you are designing a master bath around one standout soaking experience, you have the budget for a $34,000+ fixture, and your builder can plan for the loaded weight, the GFCI circuit, and the 6 to 10 week lead time. Ask for a showroom demonstration of the blower noise before you commit.
Choose a deep soaking tub instead if you want a comfortable long soak without the price, the structural planning, or the special-order terms. For a different kind of home spa investment, our luxury steam shower guide covers heat and steam.
The TOTO Neorest Flotation Tub is not a practical purchase and does not pretend to be. It is a deliberate, very expensive choice for a buyer who wants this particular shape and posture in a master bath, and who is ready to plan the room around it.
